Miriam Rothschild was invited to deliver the prestigious Romanes Lecture, held annually at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, in 1984 and 1985. Animals and Man was about the treatment of animals by man, and covered farming methods, the use of animals in laboratories, hunting and domestic pets.

Animals and Man was published at Oxford by the Clarendon Press in 1986. The text of the lecture will appear here shortly.
